Cosmetic Storage Solution

This is one area where I have my cosmetic items displayed/stored on these pegboards attached to the wall next to my desk. I came up with this idea when I picked up some home and decorating magazine at the book store a couple years ago and inside I found an article that showed different ways to organize items using these peg boards like in a home office for supplies or in a garage to organize tools, nails, screws etc. So I figured I would try them out for storing  and organizing my makeup items and I ended up loving them.

Currently the left pegboard consists of trays and a cup to hold my nail polish accessories like files, nail tools, etc. At the moment the top tray holds a couple Lush dusting powders, nail stamping plates and tools, the second one hold more random items like hair ties, tattoo creams, mini Zoya polish remover and back up of Seche Vite, the third holds several different face creams, primers, etc, and the fourth holds some of my smaller bottles of perfumes, and random items I use regularly.

While I really like the trays they can be a bit annoying since they all tend to lean forward instead of straight and flat so items can easily fall over, the only solution I think that could possibly fix this issue would be to place a thin piece of cardboard between the hook that attaches the tray to the pegboard.

The second pegboard holds two lipstick trays and two different styles of cup displays. Currently one of the lipstick trays hold most of my MAC lipsticks, glosses and some of the Urban Decay Cream Shadows, and the top cup display holds all my liners, and lip liners, the bottom cup display holds all my brushes on the top row and the bottom row holds several NYX double ended liners, Urban Decay 24/7 Shadow Pencils, MAC shadesticks, and brow items.

I really prefer the cup displays to the trays since they sit better on the pegboards, but other than that I absolutely love these pegboards and having them right next to my desk makes it easy to grab items like certain makeup brushes, lipstick or eye liner instead of having to search for them inside a drawer amongst other items.

They sell the pegboard wall panels in different sizes, for reference mine are the 16” x 20” which I think is the perfect size and they also come in multiple colors too!  And there are a ton of different types of bins, trays, cup displays to choose from.
